Coupa buys travel price optimizer Yapta

Business spend management (BSM) company Coupa has bought Yapta in a move to help its clients save on their travel and expenses (T&E) outlay.

Yapta, which specializes in travel price optimization, monitors airfare and hotel prices in real time and instantly issues savings alerts when prices drop. Last year the company made Deloitte’s List of 500 Fastest Growing Technology Companies in North America for the third time.

Rob Bernshteyn, chairman and CEO of Coupa, said: “Business travel, which accounts for more than $1 trillion of spend per year, is often one of the spend areas within a business with the least visibility and control. Yapta offers greater transparency into travel spend, helping businesses get the most value from their travel planning.”

As an integral part of the T&E offering within Coupa’s BSM platform, Yapta dynamically tracks airline and hotel reservation prices and instantly rebooks them at the lowest available price, without impacting the traveler experience.
