Tungsten Automation, formerly known as Kofax, has informed clients of a cybersecurity incident that involved unauthorized access to its internal IT systems earlier this year.
According to a notice sent to affected individuals, the company detected suspicious activity on May 27, 2025, and immediately launched an investigation with the support of third-party cybersecurity experts and law enforcement. The investigation determined that certain files were accessed in May, and a review was conducted to identify whether personal information was involved.
Tungsten Automation confirmed that some client data, including names and other details, may have been contained in the accessed files. The company emphasized that it has since implemented additional security measures to strengthen its systems and continues to evaluate further steps to enhance protection.
The reports filed state that 5,556 people are affected. The breach occurred on May 20th and was discovered on May 27th. The breach is described as an external system breach (hacking). The information acquired is not specified, but includes names or other personal identifiers.
As a precaution, Tungsten Automation is offering affected individuals a complimentary 24-month membership to Experian’s IdentityWorks, a service that provides identity protection and support in detecting and addressing potential misuse of personal information.
The company said it remains committed to safeguarding client information and is taking steps to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
As of 2023, the Securities and Exchange Commission requires registrants to disclose material cybersecurity incidents they experience.
