Mandatory B2B E-Invoicing in France: How to Ensure Compliance

The latest version of the common Franco-German Factur-X and ZUGFeRD electronic invoicing format has been published, incorporating updates linked to EN 16931 and e-invoicing reforms in France and Germany.

France has published an implementing order updating the legal framework for its mandatory B2B e-invoicing regime, just one month before the first phase of the country's rollout begins on 1 September 2026.

On 10th July, the French tax authorities published a Practical Guide to Support the Implementation of the Reform, providing businesses with operational guidance ahead of the country's B2B e-invoicing mandate on 1st September 2026.

France has become the world's largest Peppol market, less than a year after DGFiP became France's Peppol Authority. According to PeppolCheck, France had 1,399,400 businesses registered on Peppol as of 8th July 2026.
