France's e-invoicing programme reached another readiness milestone this month, with the number of Plateformes Agréées (PAs) actively exchanging invoices in the pilot environment increasing from 17 to 25.

The figure was shared during recent discussions between the French tax authority (DGFiP) and market participants ahead of the 1st September 2026 mandate.

The French model relies on PAs to exchange invoice data and transmit reporting information.

The increase indicates that additional accredited platforms have progressed into active interoperability testing ahead of the September 2026 deadline.

This is particularly significant because France's model depends on interoperability between multiple accredited platforms. Invoices will frequently need to move between different PAs across the network, making platform-to-platform connectivity a critical component of readiness.

The increase is an encouraging sign for programme readiness. However, it also highlights the scale of the task that remains. While 25 accredited platforms are now actively exchanging invoices, the total number of accredited platforms is considerably higher at 127, meaning more than 100 providers still need to complete testing and operational readiness activities ahead of September 2026.

The latest figures suggest progress is continuing across the ecosystem, but they also raise questions over how many accredited platforms will be actively exchanging invoices by the time the mandate goes live.

The update follows repeated statements from DGFiP that the 1st September 2026 deadline remains on track. However, with 127 accredited platforms now recognised by the French authorities and only 25 actively exchanging invoices, the scale of the onboarding and interoperability effort still underway remains significant.
