The Nigerian tax authority, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has recently been appointed the national Peppol Authority ahead of its November 1st deadline for mandatory registration of large taxpayers.

According to FIRS, many large taxpayers have completed system integration and are transmitting live e-invoices.

FIRS reports that approx. 1,000 companies have begun integration into the Merchant‑Buyer System (MBS) since the go‑live on 1 August 2025. This represents about 20% of the approx. 5,000 eligible large taxpayers in scope.

Large taxpayers are defined as those with annual turnover exceeding ₦5 billion (approx. €3 million).

Originally, large taxpayers were supposed to complete integration by 1 August 2025, but FIRS extended its mandatory deadline to 1 November 2025.
