Sovos has acquired Flowie, an AI finance and procurement platform, in a move intended to bring tax compliance into the workflows that create and process business transactions.

Announced on 1 October, the acquisition adds agents that can carry out tasks across accounts payable, procurement, invoicing, collections and supplier onboarding. Sovos says Flowie works across existing ERP systems and is immediately available to its customers alongside its core tax compliance platform.

For finance and shared services teams, the potential value lies in connecting processes that often sit across separate applications. Combining Flowie’s agents with Sovos’ regulatory data could help identify invoice and transaction errors earlier, reduce manual hand-offs and apply relevant compliance requirements as transactions move through finance workflows.

The companies also plan to launch the Sovos Graph, linking supplier and customer relationships, buy-side and sell-side transaction data, and jurisdiction-specific tax rules. Flowie’s agents will work alongside Sovos’ existing compliance agents, which support tasks including e-invoice error diagnosis and data reconciliation.

For Sovos customers, the acquisition signals a broader offering beyond tax compliance, extending into the operational processes that feed it. The practical questions will be how the combined capabilities integrate with existing systems, where human approval remains necessary and what measurable improvements customers achieve. The wider AI cost and efficiency figures cited in the announcement are research estimates, rather than demonstrated results from the combined platform.
