Sovos Expands APAC Presence with New Mumbai Center of Excellence

Sovos has announced an expanded investment in the Asia-Pacific region, including the opening of a new APAC Center of Excellence in Mumbai, India. The company said the facility will support its regional operations across go-to-market activities, product development, delivery, and customer support.
The expansion comes as governments across Asia-Pacific continue to introduce e-invoicing mandates, real-time reporting requirements, and broader digital tax compliance measures. Sovos said the increased investment is intended to strengthen its ability to support multinational businesses operating across multiple regulatory environments in the region.
According to Sovos, the Mumbai hub will act as a regional operational center and support further market expansion across APAC. The company said the office will also focus on developing local talent and enhancing delivery capabilities for customers across the region.
Kevin Akeroyd, CEO of Sovos, said APAC represents a significant growth opportunity for the business due to increasing demand for tax compliance technology and local regulatory expertise.
The company noted that the investment builds on its acquisition of IRIS, announced in 2025, and is expected to strengthen its regional capabilities.
Sovos said its tax compliance platform supports e-invoicing, VAT and GST compliance, and information reporting across more than 150 countries. The company stated that it processes nearly 20 billion transactions annually.
The company also announced several leadership appointments as part of the expansion. Christiaan Van Der Valk, who serves as the GENA Chair, has been appointed Chief Regulatory and Industry Affairs Officer, while Alex Pavel will serve as SVP of Industry and Regulatory Intelligence.
In APAC, Gautam Mahanti has been appointed Managing Director for the region, and Andrew Hocking will oversee channel development and partnerships.
Sovos said the appointments are intended to strengthen its regulatory and customer support capabilities as tax digitisation initiatives continue to expand across Asia-Pacific markets.
