UAE Updates AE Tax Data Document

The United Arab Emirates has published version 1.0.4 of its AE Tax Data Document (TDD) specification, with the updated version becoming mandatory for Accredited Service Providers from 4 August 2026.
Accredited Service Providers are required to implement the revised specification by that date and can begin testing against the latest Peppol Testbed immediately.
According to the release notes, the update addresses issues identified during an external review of the current Tax Data Document specification and introduces a series of technical refinements designed to improve validation, documentation and implementation.
The release includes improvements to validation rules and validator stability, clearer validation messages, corrections to specification documentation and expanded sample invoice and credit note files covering a wider range of business scenarios.
The changes apply only to the AE Tax Data Document specification. The UAE Billing and Self-Billing specifications are unaffected.
The publication of version 1.0.4 provides Accredited Service Providers with an updated technical specification ahead of the 4 August implementation deadline and reflects the continued refinement of the UAE's e-invoicing framework as implementation progresses.
The United Arab Emirates's current Phase 1 deadline for appointing an Accredited Service Provider (ASP) is 30 October 2026. The Phase 1 go-live date is 1 January 2027.
