As the 27 EU Member States move toward their own B2B e-invoicing mandates under the ViDA initiative, one European country is charting a different course: the United Kingdom.

Having left the EU in 2020, the UK sits outside the scope of ViDA, giving it the freedom to define its own approach to B2B electronic invoicing. The UK has now begun to define that approach.

In November 2025, the UK Government announced plans to introduce a mandatory B2B e-invoicing regime from April 2029.
